What's a safety switch, and do I need one on every circuit?
A safety switch, or RCD, cuts power in milliseconds when electricity leaks to earth. It protects people, not just wiring. Fuses and circuit breakers don't do that job. We install to the current standard, which puts that protection on every circuit in the house.
Will my old board handle solar or an EV charger?
Often not without changes. Older boards lack both the capacity and the spare ways a solar inverter or EV charger needs. We check that during the inspection, so the upgrade you pay for suits what you're planning, not just what you've got now.
How long does a switchboard upgrade take?
Most homes are done inside a day, with the power off for part of it. We confirm the timing before we start so you can plan around it. If yours is a bigger board or the wiring behind it needs work, we'll tell you that at quote stage.
Do I get a certificate when it's done?
Yes. Every upgrade comes with a Certificate of Testing and Compliance. Safety switches are proven on the day, circuits are labelled, and you keep the paperwork. Insurers and conveyancers ask for it, so file it somewhere you'll find it again.
